We are very happy to announce we now have nitrous oxide at our dental office! Nitrous oxide is better known to some as “laughing gas” or “sweet air.” It is a gas sedative that provides pain and anxiety relief when inhaled, and as its nicknames imply, may smell slightly sweet and makes people more relaxed (and even laugh) at their dental appointment. Nitrous oxide has a rapid onset and is quickly removed from your system allowing you or your child to fully recover usually within 3-5 minutes.
Risks involved include: headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and hallucinations
Benefits include: increased relaxation, decreased anxiety and decreased discomfort from the procedure
Please ask anyone in the office for more information if you or someone you know would be interested in using nitrous, or would benefit from the use of nitrous oxide. If you plan on using nitrous oxide, you must not have anything to eat for 4 hours prior to your appointment and nothing to drink within 2 hours. Please see below for other contraindications to use.
